LAJ bitter after failing to land hip-hop title
July 5th was LAJ’s birthday, the young Sierra Leonean rapper who came to the spotlight for his hit single ‘Money Nar Bank’ Remix which features Kao Denero, Diamond Saj, Pupa Baja and others.
But strangely, LAJ doesn’t seem to be in a happy mood when salonejamboree.com, during a chat on popular social networking website facebook.com, wished him happy birthday and attempted to gauge his reaction on the recent SLMTV awards.
LAJ won two awards – Best Single and Best Video (Male), but salonejamboree.com wanted to get his feelings after rival Kao Denero claimed the most coveted Best Hip-Hop category. salonejamboree.com reported the SLMTV awards in a story titled: ‘And the winner is… KAO DENERO!
However, LAJ was apparently furious:
“I see u on Kao dick huh? U guys r all one sided,†he wrote us during the chat.
“I see u on Kao dick huh? U guys r all one sided,†he wrote us during the chat.
When salonejamboree.com asked him what he meant, LAJ further said: “U kno wat i mean… should i cry when u said dat me no to dem begger begger rapper player i dont need shit from u… and stop writting me and delete me as a friend plz.â€
Interestingly, this is not the first time salonejamboree.com has been wrongly accused of taking sides among Sierra Leonean musicians. In fact fans of Kao Denero once accused us of giving favorable coverage to rival artists/groups. Nova Soprano also accused us of bias reporting following comments made by Kao that he (Nova) did not deserve the SLMTV hip-hop title.
However, none of these ever used invectives to register their disapproval of our stories. Nova and Kao reacted to our stories responsibly; and that is how responsible professionals conduct themselves, especially in an international media.
Meanwhile, the salonejamboree.com team wishes to make it abundantly clear that we have nothing personal against any Sierra Leonean artist (including LAJ). As professionals we are merely doing our job. In fact we created this online publication to help to promote our untapped entertainment industry and we have been promoting most of our artists for the last two years for free.
If our own brothers do not appreciate what we are doing, here are some people who are motivating us:
